Susan Hill – The Woman in Black – Thoughts

11799645Susan Hill’s “The Woman in Black” is the chilling story of young Arthur, who finds himself involved with the will of an old woman, who lived her entire life secluded in an old house, full of memories and hatred, as our protagonist will soon have to discover.
This book is a real fast read, as it is hard to put it down as the story is recalled by a much older Arthur.
It was a fun read too, as the eerie atmosphere of the town and mansion in which Arthur has to live for some time is perfectly depicted. The colors, the noises, the shadows, and shades form a perfect gothic “painting”.
As the final pages make you imagine what’s coming for poor Arthur, you can’t escape the feeling of the sudden and shocking finale.
